Branching Out: Powerful Partnerships for a Greener Future

Environmental stewardship isn't just a lesson in a textbook – it's a hands-on, collaborative effort! We're incredibly fortunate to work with some amazing partners who help us protect our unique ecosystem, contribute to wider conservation efforts, and empower our students to become environmental leaders.

Let's meet our incredible partners, the real MVPs of our environmental journey! First up, we have the fantastic Friends of the Rouge – our longtime allies who bring the energy and expertise to our tree planting and habitat rescue missions. During Earth Week, students from every corner of our school, from our youngest learners to our graduating class, grab their shovels and join forces with Friends of the Rouge to plant trees and make a real impact. They're not just helping us plant trees; they're right there with us, tackling buckthorn and bringing back native species.

We also have Ontario Streams, who are teaming up with our awesome Grade 7s to make a splash for stream health and biodiversity through planting trees. Hold onto your hats, because we're also the ONLY K-12 school in Canada to be a Ducks Unlimited Wetland Centre of Excellence, where we dive into wetland workshops and learn how to care for these vital spaces.

For Earth Day, Wildlife Preservation Canada zooms in to show our Grade 2s some seriously cool animal adaptations, with our amazing Eco Team cheering them on. Last but definitely not least, ClimateWise Business Network keeps us powered up, helping us track our energy and waste, and connecting us with other eco-warriors in the field!

Our partnerships are the heartbeat of our environmental work! They provide us with a powerhouse of knowledge and resources, igniting our initiatives. We empower students with incredible hands-on experiences – from tree planting parties to habitat restoration projects and citizen science investigations.

Together, we're driving real change, protecting our native treasures, tackling invasive threats, and championing our vital wetlands. And with ClimateWise by our side, we're analyzing data and making smart decisions that truly count!
