This May, HTS proudly celebrates Asian Heritage Month, a time to recognize and honour the diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of Asian communities in Canada and around the world. Thanks to the collaboration and passion of several student-led clubs, this year’s observance highlights meaningful stories, promotes cultural exchange, and encourages awareness across our school.
During Chapel, two students in grade 10, Kyla Y. and Hannah D. delivered an engaging presentation that celebrated the rich diversity of Asian cultures. Their talk encouraged the HTS community to embrace curiosity and respect for traditions that span across the Asian continent. They also organized a read-aloud experience for lower school students and set up a table outside the dining hall inviting anyone in the community to try folding some origami or learn some simple words and phrases in different Asian languages.
As the community reflects on Asian Heritage Month, it’s important to carry forward the lessons of respect, understanding, and celebration of diversity that have been shared throughout this time. By learning from the stories and experiences of our Asian community members, students strengthen the bonds that make HTS a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone. Together, we honour the cultures that shape our world and create a school environment where every voice is valued and heard.
