Get ready for an unforgettable night of theatre! The Senior School Play Production is thrilled to present this year's musical, "The Prom," a powerful story about inclusivity, acceptance and finding your place.
Mr Darling and Mr Whitebread, the passionate directors of "The Prom," are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment for all students involved. They see the play as an opportunity for students to grow, form lasting bonds and create an unforgettable theatrical experience for the HTS community.
Michael C., a grade 12 student and lead actor, is creating a documentary about this year's production. He aims to capture the behind-the-scenes journey, highlighting the hard work, dedication and emotional connection of the cast and crew. Through this documentary, Michael hopes to showcase the play's powerful message of inclusion and acceptance and inspire audiences to be more open-minded and understanding.
The play features a spectacular musical production thanks to the combined efforts of the pit band and vocalists. Vocal captain Claire P. assists singers in refining their technique and Ms Marshall, the musical director, guides the overall vocal performance. The pit band, led by conductor Mr Lewis and featuring keyboardist Ella Y., provides the backing tracks for the show, embracing the challenge of diverse musical styles. Together, these dedicated musicians contribute to the vibrant and unforgettable musical experience.
Arisa Z., a talented dancer and actor, takes on the role of dance captain for "The Prom." Her patience, leadership and experience shine as she guides the cast and even choreographs some of the numbers. Arisa's dedication and passion for dance contribute significantly to the show's success. Rosha C., Head of Costumes, Hair and Makeup, plays a vital role in "The Prom" by bringing the characters to life visually. She faces the challenge of sourcing costumes and managing increased responsibilities, but her dedication ensures the actors look and feel their parts, contributing to the play's success.
The set design is a collaborative effort, with Ms Krause leading the design and students like Selena S. contributing to the creative vision. Mr Steele, despite having no prior experience, also takes on the challenge of set construction. Together, they overcome obstacles to create a realistic and memorable set that enhances the vibrant story. Mr Stone, the lighting designer for HTS productions for over 30 years, brings the directors' vision to life through dynamic and colourful lighting. Chloe G. handles sound engineering and operations, adding crucial sound effects to enhance the atmosphere of the show.
Karen F., Head Stage Manager for "The Prom," assists backstage to overseeing the entire production. Her responsibilities range from administrative tasks and prepping the stage to calling cues during the show. Despite the workload, she loves the energy and excitement of stage managing.
