On Thursday, September 5th, HTS welcomed acclaimed author and motivational speaker Sam Demma for an uplifting presentation to students and staff. The event was organized by Ms Helen Pereira-Raso, Head of School, and Ms Jacqueline Butler, Deputy Head of Student Life and Wellbeing, who warmly welcomed Sam along with the entire school community.
Famous for his dynamic and thought-provoking presentations, Sam engaged the students with his unique mix of humour, storytelling, and impactful messages on leadership, empathy, and personal development.
During this visit, Sam introduced an exciting new aspect to his talk—a preview reading from his upcoming children’s book, Be Someone’s Taco, scheduled to launch in the Spring. Aimed at young readers, the book highlights themes of nurturing relationships, spreading kindness, and cultivating hope, which resonated strongly with the younger audience.
Throughout his presentation, Sam underscored the significance of kindness, both in daily interactions and in forming lasting connections. His reading from Be Someone’s Taco was met with enthusiastic responses from students of all ages, who were captivated by its simple yet profound lesson: small acts of kindness can create a big impact.
After the event, a parent shared her appreciation, stating, "My kids couldn't stop talking about your presentation. They really enjoyed it, and my older one said it was one of the best talks he’d ever heard!"
Both Ms Pereira-Raso and Ms Butler expressed their gratitude for Sam’s visit, highlighting the positive influence his message had on the students. HTS's commitment to student well-being and leadership aligned perfectly with Sam’s themes of personal growth and leading by example. Students left the session feeling motivated to bring more kindness and empathy into their daily lives at school and within their communities.
As HTS continues to foster a caring and inclusive environment, events like Sam Demma’s keynote serve as a powerful reminder of the value of kindness and inclusion. Sam’s message, supported by his forthcoming book Be Someone’s Taco, is sure to leave a lasting impression on the students.
