Where Our Story Began: Celebrating Founder’s Day at Holy Trinity Church

It was truly inspiring to see the HTS community come together for the Annual Founder’s Day Service held at Holy Trinity Church. It was a beautiful celebration of the visionary community members’ dream to create the amazing 44-year-old community we enjoy today.

The service, led by Father Crowther, rekindled the sacred bond between the church and school, reminding us of our origins and the Christian values at the heart of HTS. Ms Amanda Kennedy spoke about the importance of honouring these traditions, emphasizing how the founders’ vision continues to guide and inspire us.

Several cherished members of our community contributed to the service, including Ms Rosemary Tuzi, parent of Arthur ’33 and Juliarose ’35, who read the first reading, followed by Wyatt ’26, who read the second. The sermon was shared among Father Crowther, Pastor Simon Davis, and Mr Chris Kolar, who moved us with the powerful story of Lex Luger, known as “The Total Package” in the wrestling world, who suffered a severe spinal stroke in 2007 that left him nearly paralyzed.

His journey from being confined to a wheelchair to standing unassisted for the first time in years highlights not only his physical perseverance but also the transformative impact of embracing faith during life’s greatest challenges. Luger's story reminds us all that even in adversity, hope, community, and perseverance can lead to extraordinary achievements.

Mr Colin Darling ’17 offered heartfelt prayers on behalf of the community, and we gratefully acknowledge the many students whose participation enriched the ceremony. The participation of alumni, students, parents, and staff highlighted the strength and unity of the HTS family, reflecting our shared commitment and community spirit.

Reverend Maria Ling has warmly invited our entire community to attend future Holy Trinity Church services on Sundays; their doors are always open to welcome us all. After the service, everyone enjoyed the beautiful archival display prepared by Ms Erica Brocco, who is responsible for preserving the tangible history of HTS.

As we reflect on this meaningful day, we honour not only our founders but also the lasting connection between Holy Trinity Church and HTS: a connection founded on faith, service, and a shared commitment to nurturing generations of young leaders.
