Ms Stephanie Stephens

BMath, BEd (Hons)

Executive Director of Learning Innovation and Technology

With over 30 years of teaching and leadership experience in the Canadian independent school system, Stephanie champions a philosophy of “teaching in the context of doing.” She believes that when technology is integrated thoughtfully and deliberately, it becomes a powerful catalyst for student agency, critical thinking and complex problem-solving.

Since joining HTS in 2013, Stephanie has helped position the school as a frontrunner in technology-driven education. She oversees the Innovation Labs, which have become hubs for creative exploration, hosting courses like Fashion Forward and Robotics that connect classroom learning with real-world applications. Her work also includes the development of the Innovative Learner Continuum, a framework that guides student growth in communication, critical thinking and personal development, and which has inspired educators across the country.

Constantly learning herself, Stephanie is currently exploring the role of emerging technologies like AI in helping students recognize their own growth outside of traditional testing. Her vision is to change how we measure academic success by creating learner-driven dashboards that empower students to track their own progress, effectively "capturing the experience as the learning."
