A Message from the Head of School

Dear HTS Community,

It is with a heart full of gratitude and reflection that I write to you today. After 11 extraordinary years, eight of them as your Head of School, I write today to let you know that I will be leaving HTS at the end of the school year (June 2025).

This decision was not made lightly, as HTS has become integral to my life. The next chapter of my professional journey will take me to the United Arab Emirates, where I will serve as the CEO of an international school. Contributing to global education has been a lifelong passion. Even as I embark on this exciting new path, my deep connection to HTS and everything we have accomplished together will remain with me.

I am grateful for the people and the community that make HTS so special. Together, we have built an innovative learning environment that has redefined what education can be. We’ve broken down barriers, opened up new possibilities for our students, and set new standards in education. HTS is more than a school—it’s a community where learners thrive, and we have all grown together in ways that continue to inspire me.

The HTS story is one of remarkable achievements. Staff lead the way, sharing expertise, publishing work, and presenting at conferences worldwide. The success of our CAIS accreditations, Ministry inspections, unprecedented enrolment, state-of-the-art facilities, and innovative programming set us apart globally. We launched the Online Campus and the Centre for Transformative Learning and Leadership; these are a testament to our collective dedication and vision for the future of education. Students have made their impact felt through their incredible creativity and initiative in the areas of fashion, service learning, pitching ideas on global stages, Model United Nations, Formula 1, robotics, athletic championships, presenting at conferences, and publishing their work. Our Board of Governors has been a remarkable source of inspiration and strategic leadership, propelling HTS toward new heights. Their unwavering support has enabled us to become a national and global leader in education.

I am deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and the future will continue to be bright.

To my colleagues, your courage, creativity, dedication, commitment to our students, and professionalism have been the driving force behind HTS’s success. We’ve embraced new possibilities, transformed our practices, and created a school culture that uplifts and empowers every learner. I will always treasure what we have built—a community where students and adults flourish.

To our students and alumni, your stories will forever be in my heart. You made every day the best reason to wake up and start the day. You inspired me, gave my work purpose, and, above all, filled every day with joy and love. You are and will always be my why. Thank you for allowing me to share your journeys and see you become the most incredible humans you are. I will never forget you.

The past 11 years have been some of the most rewarding of my professional life, and I feel privileged to have been part of this incredible journey. This is not goodbye, but until we see one another again. Thank you for the gift of authoring a chapter of this marvellous story.

To our families, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your trust, care, and belief in our shared vision. You have supported our dreams and been the most wonderful mentors and guides to your children. Throughout the years, your commitment to our school has paved the path for a partnership that nurtured young adults to thrive in an ever-changing world.

I am committed to supporting the transition of the new Head of School and ensuring they are ready to lead this community forward. We have big dreams, and I promise you that in the months ahead, I am dedicated to moving our goals forward and enjoying the time we have together.

HTS will always hold a special place in my heart and that of my family’s. I will forever cherish the time I’ve spent here with all of you. If you would like to reach out to connect please email me or come by my office for a visit.

With sincere gratitude,

A Message from the Board of Governors

Dear HTS Community,

It is with heartfelt appreciation and respect that we announce the departure of our Head of School, Ms Helen Pereira-Raso. After eleven dedicated years at HTS, with eight as Head of School, Helen will be embarking on an exciting new professional journey in August 2025 as the CEO of an international school in the United Arab Emirates. This opportunity allows her to extend her lifelong passion for educational leadership on a global scale. While we will deeply miss her, we celebrate this well-deserved next step in her remarkable career.

Helen’s leadership has elevated HTS into a recognized leader in the field of education, both nationally and globally. Through her forward-thinking vision, Ms. Raso has made significant contributions to our school community, setting new standards in learning and innovation, and creating a vibrant community where students, educators, and staff thrive. Under her guidance, HTS achieved exceptional growth in enrollment, developed state-of-the-art facilities, and launched pioneering initiatives like the HTS Global Online Campus and the Centre for Transformative Learning and Leadership. Her commitment to our school’s mission and the unique culture she fostered have left an indelible mark on our community.

We understand that transitions can be challenging, and we want to assure you that we are committed to maintaining continuity and stability during this period. Your support is vital as we navigate this transition. The Board of Governors is committed to ensuring HTS continues to thrive under strong, visionary leadership. We have formed a search committee for the appointment of our next Head of School. This committee comprises Governors representing past parents, alumni, current parents, and members with diverse skill sets, each bringing invaluable insight to the process. Together with an executive search firm, Odgers and Berndtson, the committee will conduct a thorough search with the goal of announcing our new Head of School in 2025. Over the next few months we hope to engage our community in this process, gathering insights and feedback to inform our search.

Through this transition period, Ms. Raso will remain dedicated to advancing HTS’s vision and strategic priorities to ensure a seamless handover at the end of this academic year. This continuity is crucial as we move forward with the goals and strategic objectives that our Senior Leadership team and staff have passionately championed throughout the years.

As a community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. Raso for her inspiring leadership, compassion, and dedication, which has positively impacted students and staff. She leaves a legacy that will serve as a foundation for HTS’s continued success and growth. We are confident that the careful and thoughtful transition process in place will yield a leader who embodies the values and ambitions we hold dear.

Please join us in thanking Ms. Raso for her service. We are united in our mission to continue building on HTS’s strengths, ensuring we remain a beacon of excellence, innovation, and community for years to come.
