Ms Vanessa Krause

BFA, BEd, MFA

Integrated Arts, Senior Visual Arts and Design Educator

Vanessa Krause (she/her) is a Toronto based artist. She studied Drawing and Painting (minor in English) at OCAD University in Toronto and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art. She went on to finish her Bachelor of Education at Brock University. After graduating, she moved to Hong Kong to start her teaching career at Delia School of Canada (International) where she taught Grades 9-12 visual arts. While teaching, Vanessa co-created an arts night at her school that brought together the unique talents of both teachers and students to celebrate the arts within her secondary school community. Vanessa moved back to Toronto to attend the Interdisciplinary Master of Art, Media & Design program at OCAD University in Toronto. While studying, Vanessa realized the potential for interdisciplinary ways of making, that range from craft, digital fabrication and traditional fine arts approaches. She was challenged by and embraced decolonial methods of learning that are integral to contemporary art and design in Canada today. Vanessa is thrilled to continue her teaching career at HTS in the Senior School Visual Arts and Design program.

Vanessa is a process-based artist who works with a variety of materials and mediums including crocheting, installation art, bronze casting and storytelling. She is an avid reader and appreciates Fiction, Science-Fiction and contemporary writers.
