After graduating from the School of Physical Education at the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences in Santiago, Chile, Andrea Schaaf devoted herself to students with physical and mental disabilities. She coached sports at the Helen Keller School for the Blind, the Centre for Cerebral Palsy, and the National Special Olympics. While she was a Physical Education teacher at a school for children with Down syndrome, Andrea became a part-time Professor at the Playa Ancha University, teaching third-year students how to adapt the regular PHE curriculum to all disabilities. After moving to Canada, Andrea volunteered while learning English. A year at OISE inspired her to teach Spanish as a Second Language, completing her diploma. At HTS since 2003, Andrea enjoys educating her students about Hispanic heritage, and culture.
When she’s not in class, Andrea loves travelling and spending time with family and friends.
