Meet Elicia Pires, our dedicated and passionate Middle School Science Teacher. Elicia is a proud alumna of HTS ‘11, and her deep connection to the HTS community drew her back to teach here. Elicia holds a Master's degree in Teaching from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE at the University of Toronto) and an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto. She sets high standards for her students, knowing they can achieve remarkable feats. Elicia ensures that "community" is at the heart of the classroom, fostering an environment where students feel comfortable to take risks and think boldly. Elicia is a firm believer in hands-on learning, crafting engaging experiences that help make scientific concepts come alive.
Beyond her teaching duties, Elicia coaches volleyball and softball. She has a passion for cooking, cycling, board games, and conquering mountains (most recently, Mount Fuji!). Elicia hopes to be a guiding light of inspiration for her students, instilling self-belief and nurturing the next generation of compassionate scientists who will shape our world.
