Languages Teacher
New to the HTS family, Elke Haugen is very excited to be teaching in both the Global Studies and Modern Languages Departments. An honours graduate from the University of Guelph, she completed her Bachelor of Arts with a Major in French and a Minor in Spanish. She continued her studies and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Translation at the University of Ottawa and a Master’s degree in Spanish studies at the University of Toronto.
She was fortunate enough to begin teaching during her second year of university and this sparked her love of teaching. She has taught in the independent school system since 2002 and is passionate about working with children and fostering a love of learning. She loves writing and has taken creative writing courses to develop her skills. Elke enjoys cooking and her passion is cultural exploration of cities and the theatre.
