Director of Athletics
Nickie Thompson graduated from Brock University with an Honours degree in Physical and Health Education. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University and she also attained her honours specialist in Physical and Health Education from Queens University.
As a member of the varsity women’s basketball team at Brock, she was a 2 time MVP, a 3 time OUA-all star, and Brock’s female athlete of the year. She played professional basketball in Finland for one season and that experience allowed her to fully appreciate the positive impact people can have on youth.
Nickie joined HTS in 2003 and has taught Lower School science, and physical and health education in the Lower, Middle and Senior schools. She was the department head for 8 years and guided her team to help provide students with knowledge and skills that will enable them to be active for life. She has a passion for coaching and has led the hawks to numerous CISAA and CAIS championships at the U13 boys level. She is Jr. NBA certified coach and worked at the Raptors Basketball Academy summer camp for 2 seasons.
In her role as the Director of Athletics, she hopes to provide the students and coaches at HTS with a sports and team experience that is fun, competitive and memorable. Nickie still plays basketball, and enjoys watching the Bills and Raptors. She also loves to spend time with her family and friends.
