English Teacher
Umika holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, after completing a double major in English and sociology. She then went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. She has her Intermediate/Senior qualifications in English and social sciences. Umika is currently completing her Master of Education in teaching and learning through the University of Ottawa. Umika has a variety of experiences in the teaching profession, both abroad and in Canada. After graduating, she embarked on an educational adventure by teaching overseas in Abu Dhabi for five years. She had the opportunity to teach high school students English and Ethics from Grades 7 to 11. This experience helped build Umika’s strong passion for working within a school environment and creating a safe space for students to learn and grow.
She is extremely excited for her role as a Middle School English teacher and to continue to be part of the HTS community. Aside from Umika’s drive and determination as an educator, her many interests span outside of the classroom. She enjoys travelling around the world, being outdoors, supporting Canadian sports teams and spending time with loved ones.
