Connections Program
At HTS we believe in the power of connection and the importance of giving back to our community. Our Connections program provides students with unique opportunities to learn about, share with and serve alongside local organizations, fostering empathy and developing a strong sense of social responsibility.
This program is built on three pillars: learning, sharing and serving. Students and staff are introduced to the program and learn about the vital work of our partner organizations like the Richmond Hill Food Bank, 360 Kids, Inn From the Cold, Alzheimer Society of York Region, and L'Arche Daybreak. This education helps them understand the needs within our community and how they can make a difference.
We create opportunities for students and staff to connect with representatives from these organizations, sharing stories, experiences and perspectives. This fosters mutual understanding and builds meaningful relationships. We also hold Sharing Days where the funds raised are donated to our partners. Whenever possible, we arrange for students to volunteer with our partner organizations, providing hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by others. We also participate in donation drives to provide practical support.
Giving back is at the heart of our Christian mission. We believe that stewardship is a responsibility and a privilege. Inspired by the generosity of our founders, we encourage our students to embrace philanthropy and make a positive impact on the world. Giving to those in need fosters empathy, compassion and a strong moral compass. Through service, students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their impact on others. We strive to cultivate an awareness of diverse cultures and worldviews, empowering students to become responsible global citizens.
We invite you to join us in our mission to build connections and make a difference. Whether through volunteering your time, donating to our Sharing Days, or simply learning more about our partner organizations, every contribution counts. Together, we can create a more compassionate world!
